F250 light question
I have purchased after markert lighted runnings boards for my 2004 F250 XLT PSD Crew Cab. The instructions for installing the lights are very generic and not much help.
I would like the lights to turn on when the doors open.
Does anybody know thw best way to connect the lighted running boards to the electricial in the 2004 F250? The only thing I can think of is the dome light or the cargo light, but they are both a long way away from the running boards.

You need to find the wire in the sill plate or kick panel and tap into it for power. The wire is black with a blue tracer. It should be hot when the door is open. If you open the door and use a small screw driver to latch the mechanism in the door itself you can test the circuit easier. The other wire from the boards goes to ground.
