Installing new Timing Belt?
Thanks
1. unhook the neg battery cable
2. drain the radiator and remove it to make the job easier
3. remove the serpentine belt.
4. remove pulleys
5. turn the crank pulley until the notch on the pulley lines up with TDC on the timing cover. take the timing cover off (one bolt and 8 tabs around the edge) and line the mark on the cam gear with the mark on the inner timing cover
6. release the belt tensioner
7. Here's where it gets hard. you'll need to break the bolt that holds the pulley hub assembly/harmonic balancer on. to break it use an impact wrench with a high torque rating if you have one. otherwise put a pipe wrench on the cast iron hub and put a breaker bar on the bolt and break it that way (requires 2 ppl).
8. once the bolt is broke free put a harmonic balancer puller on the hub and pull the hub out just enough to slip the belt on. there is a washer behind the hub which is also behind the Crank sensor. You WONT have to loosen or remove the sensor, just leave it alone. once you pull the hub out a little then the washer will come forward also alittle just enough to slip the belt on. just be careful of the sensor.
9. when you put the belt on start at the crank gear and go counter clockwise around until the belt is on. when you get to the cam gear the belt will be a half a cog off so youll have to turn the cam gear a TINY bit to get it on. now that the belt is on put the belt tensioner back on the belt you have to turn the belt 2 complete turns clockwise to remove slack from belt. watch the belt carfully to make sure the belt doesnt jump.
10. check the belt tension and adjust the tensioner if need be. don't tighten the belt too tight though.
11. put 'er back together and fire 'er up.
12. get under the hood with the truck running and listen to the belt. if it sounds like a jet engine then the belt is too tight and needs to be attended to immedialy.
it isn't hard to do. if you have any question, post them here.
GOOD LUCK!!

56.90$ for new battery and new timing belt
Total 106.90 for a nice truck
