I just received a post card; NAVTEQ just released the new navigation CDs. On thing of concern, small print “The version 2 navigation disks contain updated software. Once any single Version 2 disk is installed in any 200MY Expedition and Navigator with VNR system, your navigation equipment will be unable to use prior version navigation disks”.
thanks for the info heislerj i have been awaiting the update disks myself the ohio valley cd which is the one i use the most, is to say the least, very thin only major roads are known in the area i most frequently use. i have called the nice folks at navtech and was told the updates will be ready by early spring. i guess they want us to buy the whole set looks like.
Just got off the phone with Navteq. The update is for software drivers, not the system, “this is what the nice lady told me, but not sure, she was sure”. The cost for 10 CD set is $149.00, with a special offer. Web site is www.navteq.com
I would like to know if the new revision of Mapping CD's are correctly labeled to show Notrh and South Carolina on CD # 8 rather than the miss-labeled CD # 9. I would also like to know if there are any improvements that can be seen on the new revision of CD's.
I can tell you that when I had my '03 EB, The navigation disk were terrible for my area (The Central Plains). If you were to follow those maps, there's a good chance you would probably get lost. Alot of incomplete data! It basiclly showed 1 highway through the middle of our town of 4000 people.
I have since purchased a '05 EB with navigation. The '05 mapping software is 100% better than what I had in my '03. Every street is listed along with 95% of the businesses. All the rural roads show up, there are even some peoples long driveways. I am really impressed with the newer software and mapping. I would highly recommend upgrading if you haven't already!
I have a 2004 EB Expedition that I purchased in June. The CD's have a year printed on label. It says 2004 but I am not sure if it is the most recent disks as I have a lot of streets near my home that are not on the CD's. Is there any way to tell if these are the latest version? Maybe someone with "05 disks can read the file date using a computer. On mine, there is a folder named "DB" and all of the files in there are dated 9-25-03.
Has anyone put these disks in a computer and looked at the directories. Are the files just in root of the disk, or in a folder? I have all of the NAVteq maps for my PocketPC for use with destinator 3. Just wondering if I could use them in he Ford Navigation system.
