Thos model of Lincolns are money pits. If it hasn't started for you yet then just wait a little bit & it will.
They are known to blow out tranny's at just around 90,000. No sence buying a used one since they all had the same problems. Rebuilds run between 2-3 grand.
Next issue are the engines. every 60,000 they have habits of blowing head gaskets in those 3.8 engines. they are also known for throwing rods around 130,000.
The air ride loves to go out. When it does don't think you are going to get away with replacing 1 strut. You will have to buy them in pairs at around $400.00 each.
Oh boy, sorry had to rant. Not trying to discourage you any.
Perhaps you just have a bad sensor. I remember mine started doing that but I never fixed it because I was selling it anyhow.
Below is a link that may be able to help you better. It is a site dedicated to Lincolns.
I just need to get about 6 more months out of it or til it blows .just need brakes until that happens
Its got 170,000 miles. engine runs good ,ride is smooth.the tranny is a little funny some times but i think it will last awhile,I dont want to put a lot of $$$ in it just to get it to last a little longer
I have a 93 continental and its been dead-nuts reliable. The only things that have broken are items that I caused to break, based on all the motor work I put into the car about a month after I bought it back in early 93 as a leftover.
138K, no engine, tranny, or suspension problems thus far. Just one brake line leaked and I replaced it. Everything else that broke was definately my fault.
