I ordered my HD, F-250, LB, SC, 4x4, v-10, Auto tran. on Sept. 2, 1999. It was built on Jan. 3 2000. The first delivery date was Jan. 24, then Jan.31, then Feb. 18, now March 6. These dates are not set by the dealer, they are set by Ford. You would think that after three tries Ford would get close. I'm tired of getting lied to.If I didn't need the truck so bad I would say forget it.I will never order another truck again. I will buy off of the lot no matter what. I've spend at least $1500. keeping my 1993 F-250, 7.3 diesel running while waiting. It seems as if Ford is selling what it can't deliver.
Something seems very, very wrong with what you just said. Ford had some problems shipping the SuperDutys in September and October but since then, they have been getting them shipped very quickly. To give you an example, my truck was build 12/6/99 at the Kentucky plant and it was at the rail yard in Houston 12/20/99.
If your truck was actually built on the day you stated, something is very wrong if you have not gotten it yet. Are you sure your dealer did not sell it out from under you? That has been known to happen.
At first glance at your post, I believe the dealer is not being straight with you...
A. What is the VIN for your truck, (they should know this if they have a build date)
B. What is the build date for the truck. Or what is the current status for the truck according the the VOPC. (Ask the dealer)..
The VOPC status has many status':
'clean and unscheduled' = no build date set. Somethings holding things up, (most likely dealer allotments). In which case, the dealer may or may not have much of a clue of the actual delivery time, but they do know if they have allotment for your truck.
Other VOPC status that your dealer can tell you:
build date (if its assigned)
locked in (means options cant be changed)
released from the factory
shipped via xxx (rail or convoy carrier)
Each one of the above status' the VOPC also estimates the approximate 'delivery' date where the truck will arrive at the dealership.. These dates are fairly accurate.
