4X4 Lockout Switch

I am having a problem with my lockout switch. With it in 2Hi, the lights for the 4Hi and sometimes the Low Gear stay on. Recently it's been just the 4X4 light but when going down the road, the Low Gear light goes on and off. I know I will have to replace it but at the moment I'll have to wait till next payday to get one, but that won't be till next week.
I was wondering if anyone has thought about putting a toggle switch on the hot side of the switch to turn it off and on. I would just unplug it, but I need it to get in and out of my driveway. Plus with the toggle, I could possibly make it a manual locking differential so that I could turn it off and on as I would need.
What do you think? Will this work? All comments are welcome. Plus, if this won't work, then please explain?

While searching the internet, I found what I think is exactly what I was looking for all along. It's a push/pull cable assembly that replaces the vacuum motor on the front axle. About the switch, the light has finally gone off, and it is operating normally again.
Has anyone out there one of these manual engagers on their trucks or know anyone who has? How did it perform? thanks for any comments.
