thanks guys sorry if i confused anyone ...i confuse myself alot as well with this chest cold and all these pills it kind of makes everything a little cloudy. hell i could have been looking at chevy parts for all i know. but i did have one final question iam going to upgrade to a larger cam nothing too radical the one iam looking at is comp cam high energy cam lift .494 110 lobe sep. idle range 1500-5500....just wondering if anyone is running this cam or something like it...as well how it performs and if there are any downfalls to it. ill as well be running the edelbrock performer intake and 600cfm performer carb with headers and exhaust and all that good stuff....thanks again

What's the duration on that cam? That's the main thing to look at. But from the looks of the lift, it'd probably be a decent cam.

here are the exact specs of the cam:
rpm range...1500-5500
advertised duration...268/268
duration @ .050".....218/218
valve lift... .494
lobe sep...... 110 deg.

Just for giggles, the radiator on the 390 was a thicker 2" unit over the 360's 1 7/8 (I think)

You'll probably like this cam. It's about equivalent to the Crane 901 cam, and should make great torque. It's not a dual-pattern though. It will definately be better than the stock cam too.

thanks acesn8s...they seem pretty similar all in all do you know what the lobe separation on the crane cam is? i couldnt find it on the page...thanks again

If you're not going to port the heads, I'd go with the crane 901. It has a little more duration on the exhaust, and should even out the flow of the stock heads.
