410 carb recommendation

I got my engine in and running. 410 ci, 8.7:1 cr, crane cam with a 2000-6000 powerband, headers, edelbrock performer, and a 600 edelbrock carb. 350 gears and 33" tires. Now I have not messed with the carb yet but upon driving it seems evident it's really starving. I will probably get one of the kits they have to try to fine tune it but I'm wondering if it's enough carb. It's stictly an occasional street driver. No mudding. I don't think I'll be try to twist 6000 out of it either, but probably 5000.

Yes, that should be enough carb. It is almost perfect for your stated aim. Double check for vacuum leaks, look at the color of your plugs. If lean go one step rich in cruise mode. I assume that the problem is when you are cruising.

For a street driver, I would recommend a Holley 650 DP, as opposed to the Edelbrock. It will have similar throttle response and a hair more top end.

I'd go with a 750 Holley or maybe 650 Demon (flow more than 650). The 650 doesn't seem to cut it when I tried it and I'm not an Edlebrock fan.

I have an Edelbrock #1406 600cfm carb on my stock 400 and I like it for the street.
