I'm planning on ordering a F350 CC for part time use hauling a slide-in pickup camper. Would the standard side mirrors work well for this, or should I go with the telescoping mirror option?
My V10 Excursion is on the way. It was scheduled to have been built last week.
I ordered the tele. mirrors for part time towing a '27 travel trailer. While I was researching the vehicle, and particularly after it was ordered, I began second guessing my choice. I found a dealer that had both types on two vehicles and measured them. What I was able to determine after careful measuring is that the tele. mirrors are 1.5 in. wider on each side, giving an overall 3 in. wider in the fully retracted position.
I think that the benefits outweigh any minor inconvenience this difference may cause, IMO.
My truck came with the standard mirrors. I have since upgraded to the trailer tow style. I can honestly say they are such a vast improvement over the standard ones I don't know why Ford would offer anything else.

I have the regular mirrors because I didnt feel like waiting for one with them. So is it possible to go to the dealership and replace them with the power telescoping mirrors? im finding the regular ones a little small.
I went with the power reg mirrors because the telescoping ones would NOT allow the truck to go into my garage!!! Now I'm fixing to get a travel trailer. I might have to be a bit more carefull when looking in the mirrors but over-all, I still prefer to have my truck in the garage.
I have an F350 CC 4x4 with the standard power mirrors. There is a terrible blind spot on the passenger side. The second day I had my truck I almost wiped out a Jaguar convertible. Absolutely could not see the car. I put the little "hot spot" mirrors on and they really do not help that much. With the standard mirrors, you have to be very, very careful. I have driven a truck with the trailer towing mirrors and the blind spot problem is not there with those mirrors. I just don't like them. If they could be adjusted so that they fit more snug to the cab I would switch mine out but they don't work that way.
So is it possible , even though i have the standard mirrors, to go to the dealer and say", I want the towing mirrors!", and they can put them on there? i dont have the garage problem. Please help....thanks
If you ordered your truck the standard mirrors, non trailer towing...non power, you can replace those fairly easily with non-power trailer towing mirrors such as came on the 99s. If you ordered the power standard mirrors, you can replace those fairly easily with the power trailer towing mirrors. I don't think they are very cheap but yes it can be done. If you have the non-power standard mirrors and you want to go to the power trailer towing mirrors that can be done also but it probably is gonna be pretty expensive because the wiring will have to be run to get the job done. I would suggest you go to ford-diesel.com to the forums and perform a search on trailer towing mirrors. You will get some pretty good ideas from the archives about people who have done this. Good luck
I have a 2000 F250 SD CC which came with standard power mirrors. I purchased a 28' travel trailer which required a wider mirror. I spent $400 for the pair of Telecoping mirror from Ford. Which they were good enough to add installation at that price. Expensive but worth the trouble.

My truck came with out the power mirrors. I picked up a pair of powerr TT mirriors online for $150. It cost about $25 to make them work. Mirror switch from Ford $14 about $11 for wire and connectors. Very easy installation to do.
