For those of you with keyless entry system (the door keypad):
The onwer's manual is wrong. Wrong in how you clear/erase a personal entry code. This is a code you enter into the system to use instead of the factory code (but the factory code will remain valid for use as well). I wanted to erase my personal code but it wouldn't work the way the book said to do it. I asked my salesman (1956MarkII) about this and he set me (and Ford) straight.
Here's what the manual says:
Programming a personal entry code
To create your own personal entry code:
1. Enter the factory set code (keypad will illuminate when pressed).
2. Within five seconds press the 1 • 2 on the keypad.
3. Enter your personal 5-digit code. Each number must be entered
within five seconds of each other.
4. After the code is entered, the locks will cycle, confirming that the new
code has been set.
Tips:
• Do not set a code that uses five of the same number.
• Do not use five numbers in sequential order.
• The factory set code will work even if you have set your own personal
code.
• If you set a second personal code it will erase your first personal code.
Erasing personal code
1. Enter the factory set 5–digit code.
2. Press and hold the 1 • 2 for two seconds. This must be done within
five seconds of completing step 1.
Your personal code is now erased and only the factory set 5–digit code
will work.
Regarding erasing the code, here's what the book SHOULD say:
Erasing personal code
1. Enter the factory set 5–digit code.
2. Press and release the 1 • 2. This must be done within
five seconds of completing step 1.
3. Press and HOLD 1 • 2 for 30 seconds.
Note for step 3: You will not hear the locks cycle after holding 1 • 2 for 30 seconds, but the process IS complete after 30 seconds.
Your personal code is now erased and only the factory set 5–digit code
will work.
I have a 2000 Ford Explorer that I purchased from an "other than Ford" dealer, it has a keyless entry pad but I don't have the factory code or the original owners manual. Is the code located some where in or on the vehicle? Any help is appreciated

Go to the Explorer forum and read the "sticky" post near the top of the page. There are several pages devoted to this topic!
Is the factory code in the manual somewhere? How do I find out what the factory code is?
Thanks in advance.
When I picked my truck up the card was not in the Owners Manual. I had to have the dealership pull the code out of the computer on the truck. It took about 30 minutes.
