I ordered a 2000 4X4 dually crew cab V10. 9/22/99. I had NO build date as of JAN 15. I got a hold of the dealor owner. He called the The ZONE REP. I found out the V10's are not going to be built. I changed my order. NOT to my liking. I ordered A Diesel. I got a build date Of Feb 14. Aprox deliv Date of March 6.Take it from me. I love the BIG BLOCK MOTORS. You are not geting 1 this model year.If you want A truck Go DIESEL.
I know of many folks who've ordered 4x4 Dually CC V10 after 9/22 and they either have received their trucks or have build dates.
The particular dealer your working with does not have any allotment for V10's. Often dealers can receive trucks that fall 'outside' their allotments, but in the case the factory can only produce enough to satisfy the allotments, no more.
So its only some dealers that cant get them.. Other dealers can and do get V10's. So your statements about ford not producing V10's is wrong.
Go look for a better dealership if you want a V10.

I live in Western PA and ordered a F250 4X4 V10 Crew Cab last week. When should I contact my dealer as to a build date? Does he just punch it up on his computer?
I ordered a 250SD, CC, 4x4 V-10 on December 5th. I was given a build date of Jan. 31st with a projected delivery as of yesterday of Feb. 21. Just thought I'd let you know I had no trouble getting the V10 here...mind you, I'm in Canada...that might make a difference.
Didn't you read all the trouble www.ford-diesel.com is in for having people post that number? Don't give that out, it's meant for dealers only, and is for Ford employees only. Ford can't handle the traffic on that line if everyone looking for their vehicle calls it. Ford ended up threatening ford-diesel with legal action if the number was not deleted from the site. Repeat:do not use!!!
I posted that we would have zero tolerance for posting Ford proprietary information or internal information. glorydays and the information he posted have both been removed.
My 250SD CC 4WD Lariat V10 arrived at the dealership today, and I'm picking it up tomorrow. I looked at it today and it was worth the wait. Can't wait to drive it.
I ordered an F-350 SD CC 4x4 with a V10 on January 19, 2000 and received delivery on March 31, 2000. The dealer told me that it would take about 12 weeks from the date of order.
Well I called the dealership today and spoke with my salesman (prompted by some recent email). My salesman left a message on my answering machine and I quote "the truck has been scheduled, submitted to the plant and has a VIN" but "it doesn't have a date of delivery."
Reciprocity: That's great! Now find out from your salesman what your VIN is, yes he can tell you that and also find out your build date. From the build date, it usually takes about 14 days to get to the dealer (give or take a couple of days). Another thing I was gonna suggest was to look at your DORA (you did get a copy from your dealer, right?) and at the top will be the name of your dealer, the date he put in the order and most important, the priority #. This is an indicator of how quickly your truck gets schelduled. The DORA will also show everything, options, packages ect that is going into your truck. You should check this to make sure your dealer is ordering everything on your truck that you wanted and will have pricing on it too.
Well I called the dealership again Monday afternoon they advised that the delivery date was May 1st. If it arrives that'll BE 3 months to the day from ordering it. Hope all goes well - I'll be in touch!!
I finally received my truck. Dealership called yesterday and informed me that the truck had been delivered and was waiting for me to pick it up.
A great looking Ford F250, crew cab, short bed, V10 motor, 3.73 rear end, power driver seat, keyless entry, am/fm/cass./cd, seating for six, towing package all wrapped up in a very tasteful harvest gold exterior.
Thanks to all who heard me whine and cry about waiting. For the record it was two days short of three months!!
