Has anyone installed an aftermarket tach on the
subject engine? My rig is a Class C motorhome on a
1998 Ford E350 Super Duty Chassis. Dealer tells
me there is no pigtail for tach and I'll have to go aftermarket, using magnet/pickup arrangement.
Has anyone done this? If so, I'd like the brand name, type(analog or digital) and where you bought it. I've scoured the net and can't find any. Thanks.
I have a 1998 E350 Club Wagon with the V10 and put on an aftermarket tach. Go to www.autometer.com. You can pick practically any tach they sell and they will 'calibrate' it for the Triton V10. They have several mounting options. My van DID have a pigtail wire coming out of the computer that I plugged the tach right into. The techs at Autometer can give you very good installation instructions. I'm very happy with my purchase. I tow a lot and like to run by rpm rather than mph.
