85 Bronco II knocking??

Well, I just bought this 85 for 700.00. There is a wierd knocking sound comming from the lower engine. I have tuned it up, changed the oil and adjusted the valves but it is still there. I have good oil pressure so can it be my main bearings?? Could it be an exhaust leak??

Any help would really be appreciated...

Thanks Mike

ummm if its like a clicking sound everytime you let the clutch in and sit at neutral it might be the spindle of the tranny isn't being happy with it's female counterpart on the bottom/back of the engine. other than that i ain't got a clue

Crankshaft bearings, you can check for allot of play by pulling and pushing on your crankshft pulley. If it moves back and forth...you've got to do some work.

I had the same problem, I was told it was probably my sterring arms mounts, but one day the problem just disapered. I tried replacing the u joints but that didn't fix anything. But i wonder if it has something to do with your 4x4 becuase after the sound diapered on my truck my 4 wheel started to always pull to the right.
