my '50 has a Gennie shifter on the C6
unfortunately I can't give you any tips on the install or anythng, It was there when I got the truck....all I had to do was hook up the neutral safety switch
i just got done coupling a c-6 with a lokar 16" shifter and i have to say it all went in pretty nice. just enough room, i have a ford ranger seat with a cutout in the middle. not sure if it would interfere with a stock seat but mine worked out real nice.
I just finished putting a Lokar 23" shifter on a C4 in my 48 F1. Looks really good but instructions not very clear. With a little patiance and test fitting it should go ok. I e-mailed their tech support but had finished installation before hearing back. Still it is a great product. I wil and pictures to my gallery as soon as i can.

I got the lokar with the 700 r4 works great instructions worthless and I might go with a B&m or genie next time I don't like having the button on top that prevents me from doing any modification to the shifter in the future the other use a s staggered shift pattern the lokar straight with a button. Im using the Lokar nostalgia 23" shifter as well. I havent gotten around to installing it yet, but will as soon as my engine and tranny are ready to be put back in my truck.
Thanks guys, looks like the install will be a breeze.
Looks like Lokar is the choice of record. Length being a matter of preference. I plan to go with some type of bucket seats and console. I wondered if anyone was using a late model shifter such as out of a ranger or mustang.
I do like the looks of the Lokar nostalgia shifter. Just seems to be a great fit.
Hey Bubba, I too have the 19" Lokar. The cool thing is that some people think it is a standard shifter. Then you see the puzzled look on their face when they notice there is no clutch peddle. John
Bubba,
I have installed a LOKAR on my AOD. The shifter install was easy. Actually I started with a C4 then went to the AOD shortly after installing the C4 shifter. I sent the shifter and some $$$ to LOKAR and they reconfigured the sifter for the AOD. Only took a few minutes to install the shifter but the TV cable adjustment is a differnet story. I think mine is installed and adjusted correctly but will not know for sure until I crank it up and put a pressure guage on it. All in all I like the set up and would do it again. You can see pics if it in my gallery.
Good luck,
Chuck

Hi Bubba, I am wondering if you had a chance to check out the Aerostar shifter? I have not looked at the working part of one and would like to know if they would be useable. Ozzie
