Rusted Cab Interior Panels

The inside roof (between headliner and sliding window of my 77 F150 Explorer regular cab is rusted through. At rubber seal edge the metal lip is gone completely in some places. Any advice on repair of this area? I was thinking of going to a junk yard and cutting this section out of a cab and welding this in place of the rusted areas. Otherwise the cab is very solid. Thanks in advance!

I had a similar problem with the front windshield top pass side. When I took the seal off there was no metal there. I cut an old door up and with some hammering bending and trimming made a piece that fit the area and welded it in.
