Octane & chip w/switch

I understand that the diablo chip I've ordered comes with a switch to go from stock to performance and back. And know that I need to run high octane to pervent ping in performance mode but is there anything thats going to happen in stock mode w/high octane in tank?

Why would I want to go to stock mode? Dealer work? Emissions Test (req'd. in Maryland)?

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks. FTE is great.

No, stock mode will run just fine with premium (same as running premium in a truck without a chip).

Chips can leave a fault code in the computer. Some states will fail you during emissions tests (OBD tests) if there is a fault code, regardless of whether the sniffer test is clean!

Also, flip it to stock mode and then disconnect the battery for 20 minutes before taking it to the dealer. This will keep them from incorrectly diagnosing the computer as bad and unnecessarily replacing it.

How do I get rid of fault code? Would be the same procedure as prior to going to the dealer? Thanks for your help.

Disconnect the battery for 20 minutes. That will clear the memory in the PCM. It holds its memory long enough to change the battery out (about 10-15 minutes), but not much longer so if you leave the battery disconnected for 20-30 minutes it should clear it out.
