I want to know what genious thought up the heat riser that was used on my truck. I don't know what all years it's in, but it's a piece of crap! I replaced a manifold, y pipe, and two gaskets, but low and behold it's that darn Riser again. What's the real purpose of the thing anyway. I've got the butterfly plate in mine jerked out and tried to tap and plug the remaining holes, but some how it finds a way to leak!. I think I'll just have to find a shop to stretch the pipe and just stick an O ring in there. (anyone know about how much that would cost?) Anyone else have trouble with the darn things?
i dont have trouble with mine leaking but i know that you dont need it, throw it out its not needed at all, Ford put em on and by 67 (i think) they removed it cause its dumb and not needed i know it was a pain in the *** to put it back on.
What's the purpose of the heat riser anyway? I Think it has something to do with choke control, right? Mine hasn't worked sense I got the truck so I know nothing about it except that it's a p.o.s.
