I screwed up and didn't get the roof lights on my 2000 f250 sd sc 4x4. I just ordered the lights, nuts and wiring harness from Ford and rather than paying the extra money to have a body shop install them, I want to install them myself. I am wondering if anyone else has done this and if you have any tips, especially on keeping water out. I want them to be spaced like a factory install.
UGA33 just did this on a friends 08 so it should be a decent guide even though the body changed. I've always had good luck with a quality clear silicone (or black depending on where it's being used.) https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...n-08-info.html
just did mine a couple weeks ago. measure, measure, measure, look at them, measure again, look at them, have someone else look at them, and then drill and silicone. have fun, lots of help aound here if you need it!
If you have a buddy with a lift that would help. I took a template of my and transfered it to my buudys truck. I put the truck under the lift and sat on the arms to do all the drilling and mounting it made it a los easier.
I just purchased a 2003 F250 that has Roof Clearance lights. This is my first truck. Do these lights have any purpose? My wife hates these lights. Is there any way to remove them?
Well, yes, you can remove them.
1; Pull the headliner out of the cab. Remove the retaining bolts and the wiring harness. You can then weld disks of steel into the larger wire holes and Bondo the smaller mounting bolt ones. Grind the welds smooth and primer them. Scuff the remaining paint on the rest of the roof. Then paint the entire roof and blend the surrounding metal.
2; Tell the wife to get over it.
