all kinds of e4od problems
I have a 95 F150 4x4 302 with e40d that has been sitting awhile.It shifts hard and shakes between 40 and 50 mph.it also downs hard from overdrive when slowing down.The speedo jumps around bad but not so bad when overdrive is off.It also shifts a little better and not as much vibration when od is off. Truck runs fine. When cold it does not like to shift out of 1st unless you let up and then go again.ANY IDEAS and what tranny could i swap if its bad. The truck has 87000 miles on it. Thanks also the abs light comes on and goes out from time to time. It shifts in to all 4x4 gears but light does not come on in 4 high .

Dump the computer codes. You cannot chase problems on this computer-controlled transmission without first starting with the error codes. See the recent thread about OD-OFF light flashing.

I went to a couple local tranny shops and some will read the codes for free. It seems like they only have two things they say. It's either the torque converter or the tranny. Dah.. If it's the tranny then it's always " We need to go through the whole thing". If it's torque converter then "We might as well go through the tranny while we have it apart". $2000 please.
