yeah i wish i could enjoy my new guages as much as id like im having trouble with the custer voltage regulator once again there are so crapy and dont even work right its rediculous im starting to get really tired of it but dont want to put after market ones in and mount them on the bottom of me or the top my trucks to nice to do that to im think on selling this thing anyway and buying a newer power stroke in the early to mid 90's which is what i really wanted in the first place but found my truck that is in near mint and for the price i paid i had to get it before someone else did
I've never had any problems with voltage regulators, and I've tried 3 of them and they all work perfect. I suppose it's also where you live in the US. What problems is it causing with your gauges?
i live in california as well like you do but ilive up by lake tahoe and the nevada state line boarder ive had a hand full and each one will start to read at normal then bam drop down way to low the temp isnt int he midlde liek it should be and the oil presure is not in the middle or above when driving down the road like it should be they hve worked right before then they do this i cleaned all the guage connections nt he circut board and cleaned pretty much every contact ont here i could and they still do this im going to the junk yard today and getitng a naother hand full of them and gonna try some more i know the ones i hve ar eno good cause they dont read right at all i wish there was really a better set up for these guages or ford designed a better unit for these things it gets frustrated by the way where did you get all your new guages? i got mine off ebay i begged the guy to end the auction early for a whopping 85 but i had to have them they where in excellent shape and look good at night and in the day if i had a camera id take pics to show you anywy yes thats my problem witht he heap voltage regualtors
i went to the junk yard today and got 10 to 15 of those cluster voltage regualtors out of vans broncos and trucks and 1 ! so far as seemed to work right and not read to low i still have a few more to test but the rest will be going in the trash these things are junk i lost a pair of needle nose vise grips while i was there to! that upset me but i still have another pair like it but now i only have 1 oh well i found a pair in there once so i guess im even and a better pair at that then little needle nose ones
I didn't get mine new, I got them from a guy on Ebay. Even the current ones in the pic I got from ebay. I'm going to take pictures of my dash in a little bit because I got the silver bezel on it now and it looks awesome!
I got it from a guy on Ebay. It cost me $55 total. The guy recently had it pulled from a 1986 Lariat. Sure looks better than the faded yellow needled gauges!
LOL yeah, my truck's water temperature never gets up to the half-mark of the normal, so I doubt it if my truck will ever overheat. It normally stays down under the start of the normal mark barely. It was my dads idea to put in a fire extinguisher, in case I want to help someone on the side of the road put out their fire.
yep my guages look like that where di you get those at anyway? you find it in a junk yard that clean or buy new needles i didnt think you could buy new ones and iddint want to even ask ford as the dealership here anyway there a bunch of you know whats i got mine off ebay the guages i begged the guy to end it early and sell them to me and he did mine look good but dam yours almost look even better mine are orange red like that but the high spot on the tach needle is kinda white the very tip of it towards the bottom but thats about it as far as they go anyway it looks good i guess im not the only one who is particular about the way the cluster and surrounding dezel look
