I have been driving my 2000 V10 CC Lariat for a week now, and yes I waited 6 monthes for it,and it humms and vibrates through the brake pedal and steering wheel. It only does this when I'm stopped and in drive, about 800 rpm.Anyone know how to keep it smooth?Another thing,I didn't want a PSD because of the noise, but the V10 is loud when accelerating,is the exhaust out of tune or what? Maybe I'm too picky, otherwise nice truck.
I have a 99 early modle 5 speed dont have any rattle or hum at idle
The exhaust does make noise though I think it is in the design of the Y pipe mine even got louder after installing K&N filter but a cat back system is in the works
as for the diesel they are not that loud if you drive witth the windows up
I've got what sounds like the same truck. I don't have any humms or vibrations. It is loud during accelertion, sounds like a diesel. I think the reason for it is...its got a lot of power. I kind of like it too.
Many folks with both the 5.4L v8 and V10 have noticed the 'diesel' type sound on acceleration.
Its normal, and a little annoying.. But not harmful to the engine in any way.
The why is something to do with the Y pipe before the cat coverter.
Hope you aren't expecting that cat-back system to solve the "problem" of your roaring engine. I installed a Borla cat-back a few months ago and, if anything, it maybe got louder. I have been considering headers, but not to quiet the engine. I think it is just the fact that it is a relatively high reving engine that makes it so loud. I guess if we wanted quiet, we'd all have gotten 5.4's or Chevrolets.
I have a 2000 V10. At about 2500 rpm on acceleration, I get a "rattling" sound, almost as if it is an exaust leak. It does not make the noise in nuetral, only under load. The dealer says that it is not an exaust leak but is as if the valve train is not getting any lubrication. The funny thing is, I had a 1999 V10 also and it never sounded like that, it had the roaring sound and it was a bit noisey, but it was smooth. Any help or ideas? Thank you.
