Kickdown Rod

I have read different threads on kickdown rods. Some people say you don't need it beacuse you kick down anyway. Others say leave it off and kick down manually. You do need the rod. It helps control throttle pressure. I burned up my forward clutches by not using it. Almost a year after taking it off (I rebuilt the motor) the tranny went beacuse of the rod.
