i just put some glasspacks on with some headers and its not very loud. I was thinking it would be really loud. what can i do to make them louder. i need help that ladys are not turning to look.
what size are your glass packs? youll have to go with a louder muffler also you might try putting the end of the pipe closer to the cab like in front of the rear wheel.
How long have they been on? They will get louder as soon as the fiberglass packing starts to break down. I know alot of guys that break the packing as soon as they put them on. What size 'pack are you running? What kind of sound are you looking for? You say loud....rumbley (even a word?) or raspy and crackly? You will get a lower rumble with a longer case pack. The short packs will give you the rasp and crack.
The guys I know get the muffler super hot, then douce them with cold water. They do this many times. Eventually the glass packing will crack, and be blown through the system. Thats the only way I know of doing it.
To help with the cold watter method you could beat on them with a rubber hammer, but you'll want to be careful not to break anything. It worked for me.
Are you runnin headers and glass packs? no cats? well if the exhaust goes all the way out the back it seems quiet from the cab but is louder than you think, stand behind it and have some one rev it up.
other wise they will break down and get louder with age.
Yeah, with an exhaust going straight out the back its harder to hear inside. My buddy's truck has headers and dual glass packs (no cats) straight out the back and its really quiet on the inside and pretty loud outside. Seems like the ideal setup to me, but I too like to hear it on the inside sometimes.
i've got a 300-6 and 2 1/4" straight pipe into a 30" glasspack, and it rumbles a bit, but ain't real impressive...i'm eventually gonna do some performance mods to a 300-6 and run true dual 2 1/4" pipes into a pair of 40 series flows with turn-downs just ahead of the rear axle, pushing the sound down to the pavement and outward
