I have a 2002 expedition, 5.4 eng and I have found that each plug has its own coil and the back two on the right and left side will be a real pain to get to. I called ford and they want 350.00 to change the 8 plugs.
1.) Does anyone have a good way to changing them and what plugs they recommend?
2.) I purchased Bosh Platinum but from what I have read they have been causing probs with other exp edition owners.
One other thing, If possible only buy these plugs at a dealer or reputable supplier (not Advance, Autozone, Walmart etc) What you get from other places are factory seconds, not to say they are electrically 'bad' but for some reason the were rejected and not perfect. Every mechanic I know (and I know alot) say don't use Bosch they are 'junk'.
I did plugs on a 5.4L a couple months ago. For the drivers side I ended up lifting the fuel rail up a couple inches to get access. Then there's one screw on each coil, pull it out, and there's your plug. A long extention is needed to get down to the plug.
