Eilyns,
I'm in So Cal (Orange County). I did get the V-10 with just about every option including the Lariat package. Fortunately, I had no problems getting my truck and am very happy with it. You may want to check with another dealer in your area. I kept checking around even though I had my order in. Before I could change my mind, I had my truck!
I have a deposit down. But the XLT is nothing special. It's basically a stock XLT, the only additions were Keyless Entry, Shift on the fly, AM/FM/CD and Auto trans. Everything else was the standard XLT package. I didn't even order a V10 or Diesel. I don't know what the hold up is. It's a fairly large Ford Dealer and Arizona is a huge market for Trucks. I've never ordered a vehicle before and quite honestly never even considered a Ford before the SD came out. My dealer originally said 12 to 16 weeks. 16 weeks were up April 5th.
By the way, I'm in the process of e-mailing my dealer right now. I'll let you know what his excuse is.
regardless of your dealers stated excuse.. The real excuse is that particular dealers allotments for that particular configuration must be terrible OR they (the dealership) has set the priority of your truck below others..
You can't always go by 'large' dealerships. A dealer local to me has a whole site thats 'a truck center' where all they sell is 'trucks'.. The joke is, they have huge numbers of F150s, Explorers, Expeditions. however, that dealer has one of the worst superduty allotments in the area..
Superdutys these days are arriving at dealerships faster than ever.. I ordered mine in October and received it in less than 8 weeks. Very similar to your truck (Y2k F250 XLT SC 4x2 5sp 4.10LS 5.4L, cd etc..)
Check with some other dealerships, ask how long its been taking them to get Superdutys in, and what their allotment numbers are for the particular configuration your ordering..
(Remember, allotments vary according to: engine type, cc vs sc, drw, lariat and a few other categories.)
A. Unscheduled Clean
B. Submitted to plant and or scheduled: When a VIN is assigned and scheduled build week along with the estimated week of delivery (EWD, a.k.a. ETA) to the dealer.
C. Locked in: When production is locked and NO changes can be made (normally 10 days to 2 weeks before scheduled date).
D. Bucked: All parts on line ready for frame to roll.
E. Built
F. Released from plant / released to convoy. When a vehicle is released to convoy that means it is built and has been released from the plant.
G. Convoy or rail car assignment: Dealer EWD normally updated at this time.
H. If shipped by rail, arrival at the ramp (destination railhead)If shipped by rail, Convoy (car-hauler truck) from ramp to dealer
I. The dealer sees it.
Your dealer has the ability to contact Ford and get the status. If it is "Clean and unscheduled"...it is not even in the queue to be built. Anything other than "clean and unscheduled", he should be able to give you a build date and target ETA date.
If I had to guess...the holdup is the 5.4, but that is just a guess.
Whatever, good luck.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
The last time I talked to my dealer, he said that I had moved from #40 to #35 just to be scheduled.
I would guess that means its still "clean". I'm contacting other dealers in the area to see what their allocation and time estimates are. Like you all said. The only problems are, I'd have to start this whole process over again, I wouldn't be sure that I could trust what the dealer says, and then I'm probably better off if it does take longer so I get a 2001 instead of a 2000. The most frustrating part of the whole thing is that this is really cutting into my fishin' time. I can't haul all my gear on the back of a sportbike.
I talked with a lot of dealers, and called Ford Customer support as well as emailed to see if could order '00 as well as why they could not confirm in less than two weeks. Ford Customer Support always referred me back to the dealer. My dealer was not sure if the 2000 would be built. A pretty good source confirmed that they are taking orders through the end of May and building those.
If your dealer ordered in Jan/Feb and you still have not got it, well maybe they sold it at MSRP. Don't trust them, they do not know so some will tell you anything. I feel comfortable with my dealer, at least he said he just did know.
So do you know if there is any legal recourse that we can take if the dealer says that they will not refund the deposit? I'm afraid that my deposit is non-refundable. Of course, 500.00 will definately buy my Ford dealer a lot of negative publicity. I wonder if myforddealersucks.com is available? Anyway, I sent an e-mail to Ford Corporate and they sent back a canned response about how all manufacturers are delayed (BS) and they cannot expedite the order any faster. They suggested that I talk to my dealer... like that is going to help. So, I'm starting my search all over again. This really sucks. I tell ya, if it wasn't for the fact that so many people are really enthusiastic about their Ford Trucks, I'd have given up and gone back to Chevy.
