I can tell you this from my experience working at a dealership...Insist on talking to the top guy. If you try to negotiate with anyone else, it will not get done. If Ford wants to make (keep) you happy they will try to accomodate you in some way.
I worked at a GM dealership and the QC guy took a customers brand new Cadillac Deville on a test drive and got in a wreck. The whole front end was shattered, but Cadillac would not give them a new car, just offer to fix the damage.
I don't know how much of the oil remained in the motor when you drove it without the filter, but you might want to get a sample of the remaining oil analyzed to see what kind of story it might tell.
If the sample checks out OK, then an extended warranty seems like it might be an appropriate remedy.
IMO, you'll ever get a new crate engine out of Ford for this without a long and protracted legal battle unless you can prove (oil sample?) that some material damage has indeed occured.
Thx to all who has given me info. Now i have a paper trail going on this incident.
I have contacted the BBB as well as Ford Motors. Also i have contacted a lawyer.
I am not trying to "get a new truck" for free or whatever. I want to drive and own
a new truck just like the new truck that i bought in the first place. Now if that means
that the dealer should buy my truck and let me buy another at my current note and
balance then thats what i want. Will let you know whats happening with this. Thx
Personally, I wouldn't stand for a crate motor. Nothing is as good as what you get from the factory and it'll never be the same again if you take that original engine out. Good luck with the mess you're in though. Hope it works out.
