I currently have a velcro on soft bed cover (tonno cover) on my '79 f-150 long bed. While I like it mainly for better gasmileage I also think it looks good and keeps the bed dry.
However, when I paint the truck I want to go to one of the hard covers (fiberglass, etc). I like the flush fit ones as opposed to the ones that roll over the edge of the bed (like on most new trucks) but I have been told the flush fit ones leak water, not a big deal but for the money involved I would rather it not leak. Has anyone had any experiances with either style and the pros and cons that goes along with them? Also has anyone found a bed cover off of a late model that will "bolt on" and fit correctly?
Any recomendations as far as what brand to buy (or not buy for that matter)?
Thank you for the help,
Nick Tosie
If you want one that is flush with the top of the bed Summit Racing has one that rolls up. I looked at the display at summit and its like a roll up garage door. You can stand on them their so strong and that way you can still use the bed. My grandpa has had them on alot of his trucks and my boss has one on his 2 last trucks and none of them have ever leaked but they are the regular style that come over the top of the bed.
