Tranny Question

I have a '73 F100, With a 360 FE,
When I first start the truck the tranny dosen't really go into gear. It just kind of sets there for a while then finally drops into gear. But the problem goes away as soon as it warms up.
This is my first Ford pick up, with an automatic, Always been a three on the tree kind of person. So I guess my question is this. Is it fixable or is it rebuild time?

Have you checked the fluid level? The fluid will expand when heated up. How does it shift when driving?

Put a can of transtune in there, drive it for a couple hundred miles and change the fluid and filter, drain the torque convertor also.

Well 78Fordman I wrote Dad who's a tranny man down in Missiouri and he gave me the same reply, well here's his reply...
"Buy a can of trans-x or something like that ,tune up or seal conditioner.. Then later on if this thing does't have a bunch of miles on it we might sevice it ... If it has over 90-100,000 on it leave it alone. You'll wash crap loose that is built up in it and stick valves in the valve body and might even stick the governor.."
So I'm thinking it might be time for a rebuild, 'cause there's gotta be atleast 200 thou. one it.
