Rough Idle or bent rod?

Hello,

I recently aquired a 74 F100 long bed (stepside) with a 240. The head gasket leaked and hydro locked #3 and #4 only (I think). When I attempted to start the motor the fan didn't even make a quarter turn, the engine didn't fire at all. After correctly torquing the head and clearing the water the engine started fine.

It has always had a rough idle, but I'm wondering if I could have bent a rod and made it worse? I'm hoping not as the engine still smooths out at higher rpm's. I'd think the vibration would get much worse with high rpm's with a bent rod.

Anyway I'm figuring if the bottom end is ok I'm just having some valve problems. I have no indication of actual mileage on the engine, but it runs like it needs work. What do you guys think about this price for a head? Ebay Auction

Thanks for reading my rambling post, I've had a long day wrenching and am maybe slightly delirious. I appreciate all the info in the forums and tia for any suggestions.

Well I pulled the head and replaced the gasket (new valve seals as well). The existing gasket was blown between #3 & #4. This was the culprit. The engine runs damn fine now and doesnt smoke to boot.
