What emission parts are on a 1978 f series 460 engine for a 49 state emission vehicle? Did it have the EGR under the carb. Also did it have a emisson piece pipe on the back of the cylinder head?
Thank you
Quentin

PCV valve, a vacuum control solenoid on the passenger-side valve cover, right in font of the PCV, a throttle kicker, a vacuum vent valve on the side of the pass.-side valve cover (near the PV Switches) and one (non-a/c) or two (a/c) 3- port Ported Vacuum Switches. Also, two spark delay valves, inline. Huh. There's also something on the back of the carb, passenger-side, unlabeled, where a choke pull-off would be on a 2150.
These two schematics are very hard to read, even for a '78 schematic. Sorry.
Did it have the EGR under the carb.
Not the federal models. The CA models did. There should be a blank carb spacer, instead of an EGR spacer. The federal models are both 8-97-R0, BTW. The CA calibrations are 8-66U-R0 and 7-97J-R0.
8-97-R0 doesn't look anything like any of the 460 layouts from '76,'77 or '79. Damfinoy.

Where's the back of the cyclinder head? I don't see anything like that besides the VVV and the VCS and the PCV. The VVV is just that. A vent, no hose connection.
Thanks i went to the smog shop and looked at at vacuum pictorial and i think all i need is the vacuum control solenoid, sparl delay valves (S), vacuum vent valve, pvs, throttle kicker and pcv valve. Thing on the cylinder head i am talking about is something i saw on a 78 f 350 ca truck. it had a hard line pipe thing that connect on to the back of each cylinder head and then went off to somewhere, ill try to find the proper name
Thanks

OH! That's the piping for the Air Pump injection. The 78 Federal doesn't have an air pump, so no need for piping or bypass valve or anything.

['Well, that clears that up.']
Looking at Autozone.com and my public library, I can only find '78 460 trucks with an air pump. If someon has proof of a '78 460 with no smog pump I would be interested to see it.
