I know this is not the excursion forum but no ones talking there. I have a question; How do you remove that black bar in the front and back of the truck that supposed to stop you from rolling over other vehicles? Also, when you get a 3 inch lift, does it serve any purpose?
If you had posted this in the Excursion forum, people would be talking there. Instead we're talking here now.
The purpose of a 3 inch lift, to put it simply, is to raise the truck 3 inches. Are you referring to a body lift or a suspension lift?
Finally, why would you want to remove those bars?
I want to remove those bars so if I get into an accident I have even more of an advantage. I deliver papers in the middle of the night on a gosh darnn drag strip that masquerades itself as a public road.
Oh, I see now... Instead of just crushing the poor ******* in the Toyota with your 6500lb beast you wanna roll over him too.... Relax, there's nothing on the road that's gonna hurt you other than another Excursion, SD truck, or Kenworth.
Since it's possible that you are serious, let me answer your question.
The front blocker beam is held on with 6 bolts, the same way and spacing used by some snow plow mounts. If you remove it, you are also removing protection for the bottom of the radiator and the power steering/hydraboost brake and auto transmision oil coolers.
The rear receiver hitch bolts on the frame with several bolts on each side, but it is very important in helping to prevent frame twist (you have a long body with lots of big pieces of glass and doors), and it should not be removed.
