I am going to put a hard cover on the back of my 99 XLT Flair side and wanted to know a couple of things from the intelligent masses.
1. How much did yours cost and did that include the price
to get it color matched?
2. What brand do you have
3. What are the positive and negatives to your application
4. How easy is it to remove from the truck and can one
person complete this operation.
5. If you had to do it all over again, would you choose the
same application.
My truck is a daily driver and I do not carry much cargo that would not fit under the cover. I think that is clears up the lines so nicely and since I will have my truck for a long time I want it to look nice. Thanks for your replies
I have a Pace Edwards Roll Top cover. I love it. It is not the regular hard cover. You cannot place heavy items on the top due to the roll type of construction. It is probably 99% water tight. I do get a bit of water sometimes at the car wash but so far, no rain problems. The assembly takes up about 8 inches of space in the front of you bed. It is lockable. It is not really visable as you look at the truck unless you are above the sides a bit. You do not have to remove it for anything. No holes to drill. It locks in several positions for partial loads. I can open it and carry all I want to any time without having to plan when to remove it for larger items. Comes in real handy when the wife gets into the shopping mood 120 miles from home. lol I think I paid around $7-800 for it and yes, I would do it again. I have had it for about 1.5 years now and have had no problems. I looked at the hard covers and really felt this was better for me as I do carry things only occasionally and you would be suprised at how many items actually fit under the cover.
