After a little more than five years, the F100 is back on the road. Last weekend my wife insisted that we work on it until it drove, and we drove it home from it's resting place under a cover at my parents' house on Saturday afternoon. Now it's all paperwork so that I can make it my daily driver again; the insurance started this morning. Oh, and a good waxing as well.
Many thanks to everybody who contributed when I was making decisions for the engine build (which started over a year ago). The 390 is silky smooth and has no problems making second gear scratches with the 3-on-the-tree and 3.25 gears. And Dennis, thanks for picking up and sending the wiring harness a couple of years ago; it's much better than what I took out.
Pictures of the build, install, and final product can all be seen in my signature link; the truck is "Second Try." Now I'll have to decide each day whether to drive the F100 or the Bronco...
How sweet! I am looking forward to nicer weather and getting my 69 back out on the road. Can`t wait much longer, it will be nice to cruise in my old friend on the road again.
Yes, I was very lucky in the '67, and I still hate that I lost it. But a lot of it lives on in the '68 and in various storage locations.
I remember a planned Memorial Day ride about a year ago Greg; maybe you, me, and some others in the area will have our stuff together by then. All that's left to do to my truck is cosmetic work and maybe that disc brake swap.
Got that right fomoko1....I'm countin' the days til I can dig my rig out and play again. Couple more weeks and I think things will be looking up.
gtex, I was putting thoughts into coming out to OKie for the FE nats, but I have not made definite plans. Not sure if I'm ready for a 1100 miles trip yet..... I think it will be a cool show. The last FE shootout I went to was in Seiverville (sp) TN back in '00. The old wagon won the class that weekend. I was pretty happy.
I still need to do something about my gas tank. For now, I settled on putting those clear cleanable inline fuel filters before and after the fuel pump to catch the rust flakes.
Nice truck bigric. That looked like a nasty wreck on your previous truck. I can't help being a little curious about what happened. Did you get hit by a semi or what? I don't guess I ever saw the cab and engine ripped off the frame like that and all on an almost straight section of 4 lane?????
