I had a HEAVY dresser in the bed of my truck, pushed all the way up to the cab. When I went to push it towards the tailgate, I squeezed between the dresser and cab, and pushed.
Put my rear end right through the sliding rear window. Yes, I big-assed my window.
Ugh. Question is what years will fit my 79 F150 4x4. I'm heading to the junkyard this weekend to find a replacement.
The really sad thing is that I did this to a window in my daughters bedroom a few months ago too. Pushing a bookshelf down the wall. Squeeezed between the bookshelf and window, and boom. Put my rear through that one. Maybe I should go on a diet?
LesPaul - In your younger days, did you have an overwhelming urge to roll down the window and moon perfect strangers? This could be ruling your tendency for rear-ending windows??
BTW - '73 thru '79 cabs were the same - any of those should work.
I think you can go to 92 (maybe newer) When I got my slider for my 75, I was told 1973 to 92. heck some catalogs. Also do a search on "dieting" LOL, George
Originally posted by highboy1975 i was always told that the wondows that fit are something like 67-96. i know it sounds strange, but thats what i'm told works.

It looks like I'll have crow for supper tonight. I didn't think they would fit, but just found out the same part number for a '73 is also for a '96.
Imagine that. I guess I would have lost the farm on that bet.
I know that several years will work, as the non slider glass is all the same. You may need different window rubber for newer glass in your truck. I have heard that the newer windows are a better design. I'd check it out b4 I bought a new one.
Bad information here.... the rear window from 73 to 79 is all the same, 80 to 96 (99 on the F250) is the same size but a different thickness. The early one is 1/4 in thick and the later is 1/8. You can install a 'thick' glass in a 'thin' gasket, but it's a challenge. A 'thin' glass will fit in a 'thick' gasket but will probably leak. The aftermarket sliders will usually fit either gasket without problems. The factory slider in the 80 up uses a gasket with a 1/2 in wide groove for the glass and you must have that gasket for that glass. The factory slider is a real good quality glass and can (or could) be bought from Ford for a little over $100 new including the correct gasket. The 67 to 72 glass is different from the latter glass and will not interchange. The confusion on the 67 to 79 is on the windshield and they are the same. I operate an autoglass business.
