Shreaded belt!!
Dad's diesel shreaded it's serpentine belt. We hear a loud clicking every once and awhile, the weird thing though was the fan was real loose when I was changin the belt and the engine was hot. Looked down after I was done and it was running again, and the fan and clutch housing was shaking bad. Stopped the engine and low and behold the fan had engeged along with the noise. Question is..... waterpump or Fan clutch housing. Oh yeah, we found some metal shavings in weird places. thankx I just looked again and maybe it's not the fan clutch, looks as if the pulley on the water pump is off balance bad! Will the whole water pump need to be replaced or just he pulley?

Wonderin if the fan clutch is gone bad or just the nut (left hand thread) holding it to the water pump. Take it off the pump and see if you can wobble the pump shaft. While it is off , check the threads there. I dont know what kind of metal shavings you would be talkin about for sure. Is the fan wobbling and hitting the radiator? Also check the auto tensioner for wobble. Hope this helps you out. Get back to us with the findings.

the fan is level on the pulley, but the pulley is the one that is wobbling really bad, and you can hear a clicking( keep in mind that the a/c is not on). The fan has not hit the rad. yet, but the belt hit something in there. The fan gets closer to the belt than to the rad. Thankx
