300 swap
300 swap
I have a 75 f-250 with a 300 stright six and would like to put a 302 in its place.
My question is what will i need to do this swap. The bellhousing should match but I am wondering about the engine mounts?
Will the mounts from my 300 work for my 302?

different motor mounts, by why are you swaping? A 302 is going to be a dog in that truck compared to the big six. I would sell the 302 and take that money and rebuild the 6 with some performance parts. If you hook a 6 and a 302, the 6 will pull the 302 around all day without a snort. While the 302 will be trying to get its RPMs up, the only place it has good power.
I thought of putting performance parts on my I6 but then opted for a 351W. The other guys are right, 302 is too small for this truck. I did not go with the 6 because of the cost of the performance parts and I just love the V8 rumble. relatavely easy swap as well. 302 and the 351W are very similar and have some interchangeable parts, like the heads for instance. 351W's are easy to find and alot of the parts yuo would need can be had from 302 powered vehiclesas well. You will need,
Engine towers (302 or 351M towers will work)
302 motor mounts
exhuast (I got manifolds from a crown vic)
302 radiator
302 throttle linkage
4 BBL carb/intake (only way to go on a V8)
Both V8's will bolt to you trans, Auto or stick but you will need the proper flywheel/flexplate
Swap is well worth it.
