I own an 03 edge with the 4.0 sohc engine. the truck has had nothing but problems since the get go . At 17,000km it is on its 3rd engine and is on it's way to about $16,000 cdn in repairs. Is anyone else having problems? the list of parts changed is pretty long, 2 engines, fuel pump, belt and tensioner, headlights, fog lights, blown trans line, coil pack, seat covers, heater switch, fuel vapour line, 1 tire , tire balance 3 times, and the list just goes on. now I have also noticed paint peeling off the rear fender flares and a noise in the frt end and the engine light is back on. I have complained many times to Ford and the dealer but nobody wants to do anything.
WOW! that is excessive. have the repairs been under warranty? You might want to check into the new "lemon"laws that have been passed.I guess there are always a couple bad ones in the bunch.I guess Ive been lucky, my 95 has 181,000 on all original parts except the throttle possition switch.
Yeah, seriously, somthing VERY bad must have happened when they were manufacturing that truck. I'd check the lemon laws out. Or ask for a new one or somthing. 3rd engine???? thats probably more than the truck is worth right there
Sorry to hear about your problems. Your case seems very rare, but I would definately force them to buy the truck back. Find, and call the Ford customer care number and don't give up. If it's on it's 3rd engine, they must be doing something wrong, or they're not replacing something they should? The tire problem is normal if you have the goodyear wrangler tires that came with it. Well, not normal, more like the tires just suck. Just out of curiousity, I'd go have a shop pull the codes for the Check engine light, and see what they find. Many big auto parts chains will do this for free, atleast in the States. Man, feel really bad for you... I have bad luck sometimes with vehicles, but this tops anything of mine. Tell them to buy it back or give you a new truck. Good luck
I agree I would love for Ford to give me my money back but the problem is convincing them. The best they have offered is extended powertrain warranty that I still have to pay $100 deductable to use it. It's a good thing I'm a dedicated Ford guy But after this fiasco my dedication to the blue oval is very very low. It's kind of embarrassing when you have your built ford tough t-shirt on and you tough Ford is being hooked to a tow truck again.
Did the dealer replace the engines and other parts under the warranty, or was the work done elsewhere? Your list seems to be an extreme case of incompetance on their part, or you are driving it pretty hard. Make sure you document all the problems and keep after them!
I hope they have a lemon law in canada. Can you go to another dealership? Have you spoken and written to fords m/o. They should also pay back all the deductibles you paid
