Our E350 Motorhome has the right front brake hang intermittently. Mechanics can find nothing wrong with the caliper or rotor. Had the caliper replaced and the brake still hangs. Beginning to think the brake hose may be acting as a one way valve and not letting the pressure relieve. Can feel the Motorhome pull to the right when the brakes have not been applied. Have to unhang the pads by prying with a large lever and backing them off the rotor.
Anyone with similar experience or possible suggestion. Do not think it would be the porportion valve as would expect both brakes to hang.
I had that happen to a vehicle I had, I replaced everything BUT the hose..and guess what, it was the brake hose.
It actually came apart from the inside, I could bleed and it seemed normal, but once I got it off and blew air through it, chunks of goo cam out..
Like you said, and as far as I know, stock porportion valve only deals with front to back, not side to side.
I have a 1998 MH on the E350 chassis. Had a sticky left caliper last June to the point of feeling the MH pulling to the left. Thought it was a flat tire at first. Checked tires and found them to be ok. Started again and then smelled the brakes...Had it towed to the next dealership where both rotors and calipers were replaced. No problems afterwards.
I believe it helps to change the fluid at least every 2 years as you flush some gunk out.
I believe there is also a caliper rail that needs periodic lubrication.
I intend to use teflon lined steel braided brake hoses instead of the rubber hoses once I'm due for my next brake job.
Good luck
