Frame welding Techniques
Looking to stiffen up my rear frame on a 82 2WD F150 8 foot. This poor old girl has seen some serious winters and has had several frame repairs. Both center and rear cross-members have been replaced ( they pretty much vanished ) and now I would like to stiffen the frame rails around the shock mounts, gas tank and wheel arch. Any suggestions on steel thickness, welding rod, amperage, technique, etc. She is still in real good shape for a 22 year old truck in Maine, but has a few warts. I still use it as a "truck" (pull a camper etc ) and want to be comfortable doing so. Thanks in advance
