Has anyone ever used a 50 series flowmaster on their v10? I've seen many post for the 40 and 70 series, but no feedback for the 50 series. Any insight to why that is? I had a 50 series on my inline six NA Supra and it was REALLY loud. I was thinking about putting them on my v10 project. Thanks for your time everybody.
My dad just put the 50 series SUV/Performance muffler on his F-150 with the 5.4L. Is sounds really tame with a nice rumble at idle. When he jumps on it you can hear it but not obnoxiously. And at cruising speeds you barely can hear it at all. I was thinking of swapping to the 50 series SUV/Performance for my V10.
I installed one on my friend's Expedition and it sounded pretty quiet, too. The difference is that on the Expedition/F150, there aren't there 4 cats in front of it. I'm pretty sure about that because I wound up straight piping it for him (3 inches all the way through) and it's loud, but not really loud and the sound is almost non-existent on the highway. I was curious about the 50 series on a v10 because i'm going to be running true duals with no cats. Thanks for your help, everyone.
Well it looks like I have to remove my exhaust system anyways....this great state of moscowchusetts has just made it illegal to have ANY exhaust system louder that stock....just move govt. intervention into people's lives.....
Maybe I should look down the list of threads when I reply. I just talked about the 50 series muffler in another thread. I just installed one on my 2004 and it sound great. It is not too loud and gives off a nice rumble. I also had the shop take out the ristricted y pipe and put in a more smoother version in. If you want to go real loud go with the 40 if you want to go soft go with the 70. But if you want it just right in the midedle go with the 50 series 3" in and out.
I just put a 50 Delta Flow on my truck yesterday. Cut factory muffler out and welded Flowmaster in. No other mods. I think it sounds good. Crusing down the highway I don't even hear it over the hum of my all terrain tires. Out back I wish it was a little louder but think a 40 would be too loud for me. I perfer to keep my vehicles on the quiet side. My mother and 6 year old daughter doesn't think it is obnoxiously loud. It's raining right now but I will record a sound clip as soon as it stops.
I heard a V8 with a 70 series and it sounded too much like the stock muffler for me.
I just put a 40 series setup on my truck and its got a good tone. When you are inside with the windows up it is hardly noticable. Going down the road the mud tires sing louder than the exhaust.

Get more people to change there way of thinking and vote them sob's out.

Mass is one of 5 states that have adopted most of California's EPA guidelines for automobiles. But there has been a giant backlash of hot rodders against California's stupid muffler laws, so much that the laws are changing. Look into what's happening there and I'll bet you can do something about the outlawing of exhaust systems in your state. Look in last months Hot Rod or CarCraft magazines. That's where I read about it, good luck, Ken
