More curiosity than anything.
How many of you have served or are serving in the military?
And in that did/would you when deployed/ PCSed store, sell, abandon, consign, let a friend or family member use or just plainly take with you your Ford?
Active Duty, USN....AT3(AW)...currently in school though in so cal. then off to the boat..woo hoo. i let my wife drive my truck once, and she didnt like it, said it was too big, the only other one would have to be my cousin, because he has 2 himself and knows how to drive them...hard. haha
Come on Brian, you could have left the keys with me . . . I'd take real good care of it for you.
Fairchild has sent quite a few over that way. I'm not in the military but am very proud of our soldiers and particularly the Spokanites. Hat's off to you guys!
When I was deployed my truck stayed in storage box in town which was 75% of my time in. In 6 years I put 7,000 miles on it. Might as well not even had a vehicle.
US Army 95 - Current. Multiple Luanch Rocket System Crewmember (MLRS)
Last time I deployed, I put mine in a nice indoor storage facility. Ran me about 100 bucks a month. But it was nice to know that it was out of the weather and wasnt going to get broken into/ stolen while I was gone.
Have not deployed yet, prolly leave my 02 with my dad, and any other vehicles I have running at the time and let him take care of them, I know he knows what to do and how to treat them.....and to make sure and stay on the pedal to keep all the carbon from building up. :P
U.S. Army Grunt 78-82
My son just joined, he goes to boot camp at Benning on June 9th..
He enlisted as a 67-T, UH-60 (Black Hawk) Repairer ie Crew Chief..
He's also planning on attending WOFT if all works out....
Don't let a friend keep a vehicle to drive. If anything happens you will be responsible. Storage or parking it with a responsible family member is the best way to go. Don't let someone use it as a daily driver.
