I ordered my f250 sc lariat 142" v10 4x4 on 8/12
and its 8/29 and still haven't received my build
date yet. Is that normal or is my dealer dropping
the ball? What would be the normal lead time?
I also would like to know if anybody has the new
6 disc in-dash cd. Does it use a magazine or do the discs load into the radio itself?
I appreciate any input and I'm looking forward to
the day I get to pick up my truck.
I placed my order on 8-10 and have also received no date. I won't start to get upset for a couple more weeks. The off-road package and camper package are on national control because they are low on inventory. I ordered the off-road package so I expect some delays.
I just ordered a 2001 F-250 XLT Crew Cab V-10 4x4 with the off-road package. I read your earlier post and found through a friend (an ex-Ford employee) that the inventory problems have been solved, at least for the off-road package. Info came from the current Marketing Mgr of the Excursion/Super-Duty trucks.
LAST EDITED ON 07-Sep-00 AT 02:36 PM (EST)[p]THAT IS GREAT NEWS. Hadn't heard anything for a while. Let's hope they get our trucks moving soon!!!
I just received my build date of 10/2. The dealer assured me that I would receive it no more than ten days after that. I hope that you have the same luck.
2001 F250 4x4 SC 142" V10 Lariat offroad pkg
The date the dealer actually submitted the order
was 8/14 and I received the build date on 9/6. According to the dealer,Ford lifted the hold on the off-road package just prior to my recieving the build date. There still is a hold for the camper package.
The problem with 6 disc changer, are you aware
if it is a chronic problem and is Ford attempting
to correct it.
Ford is aware of the in-dash 6-Cd player problem, and is working with the supplier to find a fix and develope a new specification/test to prevent it from happening in the future.
Iceman; Some of us wanted or needed special features that are hard to findon trucks sitting on a lot. V-10s, 4.30LS Rear, Auto, lariat package, towing packages, heavy service suspension packages, etc. When spending close to or over $30,000 we wanted the truck to meet all our needs not just some of them. We also saved $1,000s of dollars by ordering because the dealer doesn't have to make up for interest monies spent while the truck sat unsold. Most of us were able to deal for dealer cost or with-in a couple of hundred dollars of it. We saved money and got the exact truck we wanted, albit we had to wait a few months.
ICEMAN, I saved a significant amount of money ordering a 2001 over what dealers wanted for the few remaining 2000's that were left in me area plus I got just what I wanted. I may not have my truck for a few more week's, but I'm putting away a down payment while I wait. If your looking for a super or regular cab you should be in better shape, but crew cab's are on allocation and can be hard to find.
