Timing Gears

Hi all, currently rebuilding a 88 351w,SD efi, I was going to use a noisy gear drive timing set, but part supplier said that the spark knock sensor may pick up the noise and through my timing off. The only reason I am using gear drive is cause I like the sound. all thoughts appreciated.

You could pull the knock sensor out of the block, leave it connected and secure it away from the engine.

Gear drives give you more accurate timing but thay also cause your valve train to wear out quicker. No matter what the local trends are they are a bad choice for a daily driver.

So the 300's valve train wears out quickly? That's news to me. Gear drives are MORE durable than chains as well as more accurate. The downside is noise. The knock sensor question is a good one, often asked but never really answered.
