Change out upper console computer?

Change out upper console computer?
I have a 2000 Expy with the simple console computer showing the temp and compass heading. Is it possible to simply change out the computer module in the console from another vehicle to include the mpg information and such? I wasn't sure if the wiring is prewired with all available data.

Looking at my 2000 Expy owner manual it states they have various appearances due to how the vehicle is equipped (IE Moonroof) But that they all work the same. Are you sure you dont already have trip computer and you just havent switched the modes to read it correctly?
IE the switch on the right changes from Standard to Metric all readings. The switch on the left selects which mode you are using.

Ya, I was hoping that was all the problem was, but I only have one big button on my computer. Press it once and it turns on with temp and compass, press again, and it's temp in celcius and compass, press again, and it's off.

Hmm well in that case the various wires that go to the various sensors, speed sensor, pcm etc are likely not in your wiring loom. You could buy a service manual with wiring schematic and check that first. I just had a customer who installed a factory overhead console in a F350 SD and purchased the headliner wiring loom for it and all, but the wiring from the main loom was not present and could not be installed without hours of wiring work which would bring the cost of it well over the value.
