I have vacuum wipers on Brutus now. As everyone knows they barely work. When I got the truck it had an elec wiper motor under the seat. I looked at putting it on at the time and some how I started thinking it must have been off something else and someone was trying to make it work. Linkage under dash seemed wrong. I kept it but forgot about it till I was getting a few parts off a 60 1 ton at the wrecking yard and it had elec wipers and the motor was the same. All other trucks I've seen had Vacuum.
Finnally my question, Are the Linkages the same? and what all do I have to remove from under the dash to swap them. I do have the switch someplace too.
If I were you I would take it all. Some of the parts are the same. I would also take some pictures of the linkage before you take it out. Sadly the wipers are the weekest part of these trucks. The little clipes are hard to find and the wiper pivits wear out. I am not saying you need to change every thing it is just good to have spairs.
Larry, if you need pics of a stock electric unit let me know. I do have an electric motor left over from the one I had. Not sure why your truck would have vacuum wipers since electric wipers were standard on 292's. -4speed(I got the headliner pics)
It came with a 223 6cyl, Probably why the vacuum wipers.
It had a linkage with it. It has one clip and a nylon looking bushing on the other end So if I can not loose the one side I should be ok, It just looked different when I looked under there, but it was kinda dark.
I know what you mean about those vacuum wipers, we did a swap to electric a while back and ordered linkage from John's F-Fun hundreds. Reused the linkage arrms and pivots, just had to change the linkage arm from the motor.
