Exhaust flame

So I cut off my muffler yesterday and hear a strange popping noise, I ignore it until this afternoon and look under my truck and theres about a 2 foot flame coming out the pipe. I guess my air/fuel mixture is way to rich is that what it is or is it something else? How do I fix it?

you mean you don't like a 2 ft flame??? just kidding...actually, i don't know how to fix it, but my guess would be that you're running way rich on your fuel mix...

Well, if it's carb. I'd check out your float and accelerator pupm adjustment. If it's fuel injected and not throwing any codes I'd look at the fuel injectors and pressure regulator.

i just put some headers on mine and heard quite a bit of poping on the way to the muffler shop, and they told me unburned fuel was explodeing in the collecter. and the new exhaust system solved most of the backfiring.

Yeah, mine started doing that in ID. Coming down the mountains at night, it would blow about a 6 foot flame out both pipes. Does it even worse with the single 3" now. Driving at night, I can see the road under the truck light up.

I don't know why you guys are complaining about a flame coming out of your exhaust pipe. Some people pay good money just so there vehicle can do that and you guys get it for free. If this was happening on my truck I would put dual stacks sticking straight up in the air. now that would be tight

The air pump Injects fresh air into the exhaust so it can be re burned to lower emissions. Man I barely got any sound coming out of my exhaust; except for a small popping sound and a high pitched whistle (humm wonder if that’s good?) If I had a flame and it wasn’t hurting nothing I would probably keep it May not be the best idea though lol, try to get it looked at.

im sorry but this is one of the funniest things i have read in a long time. seriously tho, it sounds like ur air/fuel mixture isnt completly burning and getting a second wind in ur exhaust pipe...mine hasnt done this and i have just one cat and 2' of pipe...but then again i have an EFI...I WANT FREE FLAME THROWERS ALSO!!!
