Rear Engine seal

New to forum.
Just a quick question....

(Truck;00 Ranger 4X4 5spd SC 3.0L)

Does the rear engine seal on these 3.0L 's tend to leak under 50K mi ? Hopefully they are not like the old chevy 60 degree 2.8's. They did it all the time & were a nightmare to replace. I did read somewhere in this forum where it can be replaced rather easily.. I just got the truck & prior to buying it I checked it over (underneath) myself. Couple days later I took it to a ford dealer and had them do a O L F + inspection. The mech said I had a little seepage around the real seal? I didn't see it?
No oil on the garage floor. I cleaned up around the area and still no sign. Thanks in advance for any info you may submit.
So far this forum seems professional and friendly! Some of the other forums i've been on get ugly!
Happy truckin!

Welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts! There is indeed a good bunch of people who post here at FTE.

I'm not aware of any notorious problems with rear seals on the vulcan engines. If you continue to see no evidence of any leakage, and your engine is not losing oil at an abnormal pace between changes, then I wouldn't sweat it. Just keep an eye on the situation.

I've had some seep if the truck doesn't get used a lot. But like rockledge says We don't see many problems with 3.0l rear main seals.

Thanks much gentlemen.
Good to know that this engine isn't noted for this type of prob.
This is the first Ranger I've ever owned. Seems solid enough.
I'm no stranger to Ford trucks. I won't go into it here but maybe another thread.

Thanks again!
