4.6 miss

The miss is coming from the motor. I noticed heater hose leaking a little around the #8 cylinder. I checked the plug wire, which is new, and it didn't seem to be wet, but it had a few minor tears from where I tried to take it out. The MAF sensor seemed to be clean. The truck only misses when in overdrive climbing up a hill. When should I use the overdrive button?
I cleared the check engine light and it hasn't come back on, but there is still a little miss when climbing a hill in overdrive.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Davey

Hi Davey,
The heater hose is above #4 spark plug. Number 8 is at the back on the driver's side. You been cheating on us and working on a Chev where #8 is on the passenger's side?
How old are your spark plugs? Take a look at the spark plug insulator and see if there is a black line down the side of it. I've seen quite a few that had tracks down the side. The spark was going outside the plug instead of where it was supposed to go.
Water in the spark plug hole can cause that.
