If you do a search for "power steering" in the 61-66 forum (this one), you'll find a few great articles to read. Once you're done reading those articles you'll be set
Seems pretty straight forward. Not sure other threads i will be referring to of any help. Anyhow, might want to take a look. As 'slayer' indicated , run a search and go back 3 to 4 months. On 12/17/03 authored by 'andysutt' under thread " power steering again". Another thread that i posted 12/9/03, under Bendix p/s. The search will Probably lead to additional thread on the topic.
good luck,

Also search for my name, banjopicker66, where got a lot of help for my '66. You will find answers to to a lot of the same questions you will ask, especially as related to 3 on the tree shifter.
I'm rebuilding a 65 F-100 4x4 and would love to replace the manual steering with PS. The tech articles I've seen all seem to be for 2x4. My front axle is a Dana 44 supporting by coil springs. The manual steering gear mounts with three bolts to the outside of the frame. I've hunted through junk yards (or should I say "auto recyclers") and all the Ford PS gear I see mount to the inside of the frame. Any help on how to get this to work would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks nfor nthe info. (nice F-18)
Did 21 underway ) I have a 65 longbed w/352. Have had it 3 years and havent done anything to it. Anyway thanks again.
hey larrys654x4 i have a 66 f-100 4x4 have ran into the same problem. have found several trucks with outside mounted ps gear boxs. but most have the pitman arm facing wrong way. i also would like the advantage of power steering. because when i hit the hills with 6 inchs of lift and 35's its like the good old days of riding bulls. you can find some of theose boxes on late 70's bronco's and trucks if you let me know what way your pitman arm faces i will look and see if my local yard has some.
OK. Thanks. Late 70s Broncos huh? Those too difficult to find. I need to go out and find the pitman arm and see which way it points. I've got the engine back on the frame and running, but I haven't installed the steering box yet as I was hoping to figure out a way to install PS. I'll look tomorrow and repost.
