Bad Altenator= Poor Proformance
FIRST TIME USER IN THE FORUM AND FIRST TIME OWNER OF 1990 RANGER 2.9L , 176KM. VERY WELL MAINTANED IN REMARKABLE SHAPE. THE TRUCK PURRED LIKE A KITTEN WHEN I PURCHASED AND LOTS OF POWER NOT LONG AGO. AFTER CERTIFICATION THE TRUCK STARTED TO IDLE ROUGH AND LITTLE POWER. GAVE IT A COMPLETE TUNE UP AND THEN THE TRUCK WOULD NOT EVEN START = DEAD BATTERY. ONCE I RECHARGED THE BATTERY , STILL RAN ROUGH, NOW THE ALTENATOR IS NOT CHARGING THE BATTERY AND WHEN ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL DEVISES ARE TURNED ON TRUCK WILL STALL. COULD THE FAULTY ALTENATOR BE THE PROBLEM?? OR SHOULD I LOOK ELSEWHERE??

IF your vehicle is running with a bad alternator , it is running with battery power only, with nothng to charge or add to the volts the battery is providing of course with a bad alternator and a battery losing its charge you will start to run worse and worse til you simpley do not run at all.
I would check the fuses relays and fusable links too while youre at it
